DV4mini RPi Image Update

Note: This image has been replaced by this one.

I’ve created an updated image for use with the DV4mini and the Raspberry Pi 2 and 3. It incorporates changes through dv4mini software version date 20170517. It also includes my Brandmeister XTG Dialer for use with extended routing.

Changes include enhacements for YSF reflectors, DMR, DStar as well as the introduction of a text chat window.

Thanks to Ulrich Prinz (DC3AX) for his hard work in support of the DV4 community!

  1. I want to Thank you for this RPi Image. It took a $150 investment and made it useful again. I was having all kinds of issues with Firmware and Control Software and I solved the firmware but couldn’t figure out how to install the control software into a pi and then I found your image with the lasted edition already installed and ready to go. I will be sharing this post on my blog and Facebook.

  2. Downloaded your Pi3 image and installed works great with the latest dv4mini control panel.. I use your bmxtg on my windows 10 laptop and I love it how ever I can not get it running on my new rasberry? I do not fully understand how it all works yet on the Pi..

    1. Glad it is working nicely on Windows for you. The program is exactly the same under Linux and is preinstalled if you are using my image. It should just be a matter of the initial configuration as described in /opt/dv4mini/bmxtg/README. In fact, if you have working configuration files under Windows, you ought to be able to copy them into the Raspbian directory.

      1. Dan, just not sure but can not get bmxtg running on the pi. The master is set correctly and I click on the icon on the desktop it just spins then just stops. I don’t understand this that well yet but having a blast on DMR. What am I missing?

  3. Thanks so much Dan – this image makes it much much easier to get going with the DV4mini on a Raspberry Pi; and really great that you have been able to track the changes that Ulrich (DC3AX) has been making to the DV4 software.

    Greatly appreciated, Mark (M5BOP)

  4. Dan … any possibility that you can help us “DV4home V2” users? We have been abandoned by the OEM and it would be very helpful if we were able to add new BM TGs, etc. The V2 is incomplete and barely usable as is and with no updates or communications from the OEM, we are resigned to the fact that this $$$ hardware is now “abandonware”.

I also have a “DV4mini-AMBE” so your site is enlightening.

    1. I’m not sure what I could do for other platforms. In theory, you could run the BM XTG on a PC or Linux box and use it to switch talkgroups, but at this point for anything other than the DV4mini itself I’d recommend that you use the brandmeister.network website and self care to switch talkgroups. But support does seem to be over for all of us DV4mini users.
